Q. Are you
bonded and insured?
A. Yes, I am insured through Pet Sitters Associates LLC.
Included in this is their special personal property
endorsement which provides a broader coverage such as needed
through a bond. Please see
Pet Sitters LLC for details on our coverage.
Q. What if I
live in Red Bluff or Burney, do you service these areas?
A. Yes, however only for the 20/24 hr day and nights stays. The
reason for this is because of the time and gas needed to
travel from my home to yours.
Q. I am
visiting your area and we are staying in a hotel with our
dogs. Do you offer pet sitting at hotels?
A. Yes, I do. My fee is $10.00 per hr. with a $40.00 minimum.
If you need me to stay from early morning till night, my fee
is $65.00 for the entire day.
Q. If you
are booked for the time I need, can you recommend someone
else?
A. Yes, my husband, Randy. I also have a close friend who
helps me out from time to time. Her name is Kim. :)
Q. I have 3
cats and 2 dogs. Do you charge per pet for daily visits?
A. As long as I can take care of all your pets
within 30 minutes I'll be happy to do so at my listed fees.
We can adjust the fee if you happen to have a very large
family that requires more of my time or if you would like me
to stay for a longer period of time.
Q. When is
payment due?
A. Payment is due at the time of my services. If you like, you
can post date a check for the last day of my services should I
be staying at your home for more than one day. I can provide
you with references if this would make you feel more
comfortable.
Q. How far
are you willing to travel?
A. I
prefer to stay in Redding at this time. However, please do
call and we'll see what my schedule looks like in case I can
do a bit of traveling. :)
Q. I have
some very big dogs. Some people are afraid of them. Do you
think you could handle the bigger breads?
A. I was raised with Great Danes and truly do not have a
problem with larger dogs. If YOU trust your pets, I
feel comfortable. Many times people are afraid of bigger dogs
because they "seem" or "look" scary to them. As long as you
know your pets well, and they are NOT aggressive, I can handle
any size pet. I am a very calm person. One of the most common
things I hear from pet owners is, "Chrisi you're so calm our
pets seem to adjust to you right away."
The thing
about me is I always allow pets to get to know me on their
terms. I never rush things. In fact I used to worry that
people would misunderstand that I'm not interested in their
pets because I'm so laid back. However, it doesn't take long
for people to see just how much their pets like someone who
allows them to do the snooping first. ;)
However, PLEASE do NOT
ask me to care for your pets if you do not have control of
them. I will also not care for dogs that are outside only who
are not obedience trained and well socialized.
Q. I can't
afford $50.00 per night. What do you suggest?
A. I understand that you love your pet and want the best for
them. Leaving their care to a neighbor or a child/teenager can
be difficult. Many things can go wrong, including total
neglect. My time is valuable to me too and I believe my
prices are fair. My price includes the wear and tear on my
car, gas for travel, and of course my time.
And most
importantly, I absolutely love animals and will take excellent
care of your pets. I am also very intuitive and have in fact
saved many pets from harm and several times from death. You
will have peace of mind and know that your pets and home are
very well cared for while you're away.
The clients
home of whom we stayed at for the summer of 2006 was left
cleaner than it was when we arrived. Now then, I'm not saying
we're house cleaners because we don't house clean. We DO clean
up after ourselves and you can rest assured we are every bit
as loving to your pets are you are. Well, we're more like
Grandparents since we tend to really spoil them while were
there.
I really do
not recommend placing pets in kennels. The animals feel abandoned and
can become very stressed. Many kennels have very small runs or
cages and constant barking and activity in their surrounding
they are not used to, can really create havoc on their
sensitive systems. I do realize that sometimes this is
just not possible to avoid and if you should need this type of
care, please try to get a recommendation from a trusted friend.
Perhaps a good friend would be kind enough to care for your
pets while your away.
Worse case
scenario, and you have to place them in a kennel, be sure your
pet is up to date on all shots, including "Kennel Cough".
Q. Would
you be willing to watch my pet at your home?
A. We live in a very small house so I'll have to say, no, not at this
time.
Q. I see all
the things you WILL do, what is it you won't do?
A. We won't mess up your home or leave a mess from my visit.
We are very
neat and organized rest assured that your home
will be just as clean as you left it. We won't have friends
over while your away.
Q. I smoke,
can you pet sit for me too?
A. No. I prefer not to pet sit in homes where people smoke. If
you smoke mainly outside your home, it is possible my husband
may be able to handle pet sitting in your home.
If your pets
needs do not require me to stay overnight then I am happy to
take care of them with daily visits.
Q. Will you
pet sit for large birds?
A. I would say I would have to pass. Smaller birds like
parakeets are fine.
Q. What
about horses, lamas or other large animals?
A. No. In fact, I highly recommend you have someone who is
very knowledgeable about these animals to care for them. I
have worked with a woman who owns horses and learned more
about them.
I am fully
aware of the difficulties and health issues large animals can
run into. Horses can have problems arise that someone like me
would not notice. Not because I don't love and adore them, but
because I do not have any experience with these types of
animals.
Please do not
hire a "pet sitter" to care for these animals. Hire someone
who is experienced in their care.
Q. I only
have cats. Do you think I need them to have overnight stays or
would daily visits work?
A. This really depends on what you prefer. If you have indoor
outdoor cats, you may want to have the overnight stays so that
I can let them in and out. If your cats have litter boxes and
would not stress being alone at night, a daily visit would
work just fine. I'll even clean the litter box with every
visit to make sure they are comfy.
Only you can
decide what your cat needs best. ;)
Q. I have
some questions I don't see the answers to on this page, how do
I contact you?
A. Feel free to call me at: 530-243-8506. My office hours are
from 8:am to 8:pm everyday. Or
email me
anytime.
